Snowy Saturday Full of Family Fun!

This past Saturday was one of my favorite days in a while... it was just wonderful! A day full of fun with our family. Saturday morning we woke up to a couple inches of snow, which of course stressed me out a little since we had to drive down to Wilmore while it was snowing. I am terrified of driving/riding in the car in the snow. I just think if it is snowing, then you shouldn't drive... crazy I know... in particular... the first snow of the season always stresses me out the most! Thankfully, Andy drove slowly and the roads really weren't too bad and we made it to Andy's parents house without any trouble. Andy's mom had made the most amazing breakfast... but she is pretty much the best cook I know, so this was no surprise. We had breakfast casseroles, homemade biscuits and gravy, homemade (and fabulous) blueberry muffins, cinnamon rolls... really my mouth is watering right now thinking about it! It was wonderful.
Mary and Josh had come in and this was going to be our Christmas celebration with them. So the kiddos got to open their Christmas presents!
Luke's farm set to replace the one he used to have a Granny and Papa's house.
The girls with their new toys. Emma is holding Sing-A-Ma-Jigs.... these are one of the hot toys this Christmas. She loves them and so does Luke. They sing in harmony. It is pretty cool. Luke thinks we need to get some for Bruce... I think Uncle Dave would love that!! :)
When the kiddos we done opening presents, most of us headed outside where Josh and Matt had made the coolest snowman ever. Isn't it? This was the perfect snowman, snowball, sledding snow. Also, it wasn't to terribly cold outside so it was comfortable to be outside and play in it!
Mr. Luke kept up with the adults during the snowball fights and while building a snow fort. He loved being out in the snow with a lot of his favorite people. Below is a picture of the fort they built. I am not sure who said, "Hey, let's build a snow fort," but it was amazing to watch them just all start rolling snowballs and working together to make the fort. I was impressed.
It was cute to watch Emma play in the snow as well. She tried to make snowballs like the "big kids," but I think her gloves were holding her back. :) She took a ride on the snowy merry-go-round and then she was about done with the snow, so we headed inside. It was a really fun Saturday morning/afternoon at the Johns farm.

We headed home to let Miss Emma try to take a nap and rest up ourselves. It was a good thing we went home when we did, because our furnace had gone out. Luckily it was a cheap and quick fix. I think we'd only been home like an hour and someone was there to fix it.
That evening we headed to Old Fashion Christmas in downtown Wilmore. It has kind of become our family holiday tradition. Andy and I always went with our friends in college, so now it has become a tradition with our family. It was a perfect night, it wasn't too cold... though we were all bundled up in long underwear, warm coats, hats and gloves... so that helped. The was a light snow falling and snow on the ground... it was just gorgeous and really got me in the Christmas spirit. We got to see them light the Wilmore Christmas tree and then we headed down to see Santa.
After seeing Santa, we walked through many of the local banks and businesses who were giving out lots of Christmas goodies and had lovely Christmas music.

This year was a stroller-free Christmas in Wilmore for us!! It was so nice. Emma walked most of the night.
It was such a wonderful and fun first Saturday in December.
