Monday afternoon tea

It's been a terribly gloomy day here today after a beautiful weekend. I am so thankful we had two beautiful days this weekend, because the gray gloomy weather was really starting to get to me!! Today we are back into the yuck. We've had a gray 34 degree rain all day today. After running a few errands this morning Emma and I decided to have an afternoon tea party. Which included Play-Doh pancakes, Mrs. Potts teapot, Chip teacups, 2 Lalaloopsy dolls, 2 Pillowpets, Emma and me.

It was a wonderful way to warm my heart on this gloomy old yucky day! So much fun! After the tea party we played with the Play Doh for a long time. We made an octopus, a lizard, a butterfly, a snake, and a monkey. Emma made a Rhinoceros... at least she tried! :) For some reason a rhino is her favorite animal. Love her. What a fun day with my little sunshine. :)

More Crazy Hair!

One day last week Luke and Emma wanted to build a tent in our living room. This was a giant tent made out of a King size fleece blanket and some kitchen chairs situated in the middle of our living room. It also had two poinsettias at the "door." This kept the kiddos entertained and let me clean out my closet one afternoon.

As I was cleaning, Luke came in and told me, "Mommy, you've got to come see Emma's hair." This is what I saw! :) Crazy hair from the static electricity and we all laughed.

I then told Luke his hair was crazy too and he said, "No it's not!" So I took this picture and showed him! :)

Oh yeah... and both my children had dressed themselves on this day as well. Which explains Emma mismatched outfit and Luke's backwards inside out shirt. :) I love these two. They are so much fun!

Sassafrass

Here's another one of Emma's fabulous outfits. :) She ran around the house all day one day in this one! :) Funny girl.

Snow and Sickness

Snow and Sickness.... two things we've had our fair share of this winter. Luke just had his 9th snow day today. Crazy! We've still got quite a bit winter left and another snow storm likely to hit on Wednesday. I am so done with the snow. I feel bad for the kids as well. I think Luke is getting bored at home. I try to work with him on his popcorn words and do math and stuff, but it is just not as much fun as school. These kids aren't going to want to be in school in June when it's warm and sunny either. So, please Mother Nature... spare us! NO MORE SNOW! I think we are only a few inches away from the Top 10 snowiest winters... I believe it.

We've also been much sicker about here than usual. I feel like we've been really lucky in the past and neither one of the kids are really been sick, other than a cold here and there. Just this last week, starting last Monday, Luke got a stomach bug, then I caught it, then Emma. It's been just awful. One night I just wanted to take Emma's sheets and PJs straight to the garbage. It's been even harder to deal with since Andy's been in Washington DC for the March for Life. I've been cleaning up the throw up all by myself and if you know me... I don't handle it well. I've thrown up a few times cleaning up the throw up!! Sorry if that's too much information. But really, I am ready for us to ALL be healthy. Before this round of sickness, I had a sinus infection and a bladder infection... I'm NEVER sick!! Luckily, I think we are all almost over it and the house is cleaned and degermed and ready for Andy to get home tonight. Hopefully he won't get it!!

It's been a strange winter for us with all the snow and sickness, but it'll be over soon! :) And my sweet husband gets home tonight, so I am excited about that! :)

Crazy Hair!

Yesterday Emma woke up and laid in bed with me for a little while. She woke up and stood up in my bed, then she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror and screamed, "MOMMYYYYYY! I HAVE CRAZY HAIR!! I DON'T WANT CRAZY HAIR!!" Then went on to have a good 10 minute cry/whine about her "crazy hair." Multiple times I told her I would brush her hair and she responded, "NO you can't brush my crazy hair!" Just when she finally calmed down, Luke woke up and came in and said, "Wow Emma you have crazy hair!" THANKS Luke. HAHA! The crying started again! I swear Emma is 2 and a half going on 13 sometimes!! Like any good mother, I got out the camera as she was having a fit over her crazy hair and took a few pictures. HAHA! Here are the pictures of her "crazy hair"

She never ended up letting me try to brush it, but she did let me put it up in a crazy cute ponytail with a bow and she was satisfied. :) Finally. :)

Love, Boot

Dear Mom,

You never shut your bedroom door at night! Why last night? I was standing outside your door and pawing on it all night last night! I finally woke Dad up and he let me in. Were you trying to keep me out of your room or something? You know I love to sleep with you.

Also, I know you are busy, but my water bowl is empty. I don't really like drinking out of the toilet either... especially the one in Luke and Emma bathroom as they forget to flush sometimes.

Love,
Your neglected cat, Boot :)

Things you probably didn't want to know about me

  1. I can't walk past the container of Q-tips in my bathroom and not stick one in my ear. This is a huge problem of mine. I wish I could stop.
  2. I chew ice. Another awful habit of mine. My husband is always cringes when I put a giant piece of ice in my mouth and crunch down on it!
  3. I chew on ink pens. Gross, I know.
  4. I have really thick skin on the bottom of my feet. I once got a pedicure and the lady scrubbing my feet angrily said, "You need to see a dr!" This is the reason I don't get pedicures very often.
  5. I like changing diapers.
  6. I like the smell of gasoline.
  7. I grind my teeth something awful. In college I could totally demolish a night guard in about 2 months. Now they last me about 6 months before I completely chew through one.
  8. I bit my fingernails and really wish I didn't. For a few years in college I stopped and I have no idea how I did it. My fingernails are always a mess and it never really bothers me until I go to Bunco where all the older ladies have well manicured nails.
  9. I like the smell of chlorine probably because from the age 8 until 18 I practically lived in the pool. THIS IS GROSS.... but... when I was younger, I could lick my arm and it would smell like chlorine and when I sweat it smelled like chlorine. For some reason I still love the smell.
  10. When I was younger and much more flexible, I could bend over and touch the top of head to the ground, now I can only get the palms of my hands to the floor. Maybe someday I'll be that flexible again, maybe not... probably not.
  11. My hands are always cold... but you know what they say, "cold hands and a warm heart." :)
Well that's probably enough for now and probably more information than you wanted to know, but it's me! :)

Old Grandma and Old Grandpa came to town

Sydney lovingly named my grandparents, her great grandparents "old grandma" and "old grandpa" and it stuck. I think they love it too! :) They came to town this passed weekend as well as my Aunt Ruthie and cousin Rachel.

It was a fun event-filled weekend! Thursday night dinner at my parents house with the fam. Then Friday we watched UK beat UofL together at my parents house! Which I must say was an amazing game! Then Saturday evening we got together at my Aunt Debbie and Uncle Chris' house and had our Christmas together and celebrated Grandpa's 83rd birthday. Here is a picture of us singing happy birthday to Grandpa.

I know I've blogged about it before here, but I just love being around my grandparents. I love watching how much they love each other and how much they love their family... all of us. When my Aunt Debbie asked Grandpa if he wanted to sit at a certain spot at the table, he said, "No I want to go sit next to my sweetheart." After 62 years of marriage, he still wants to sit next to his sweetheart. Love him. It is just so wonderful to spend time with them! They really are my favorite people.

Here's a picture of the Bellman family... minus Uncle Bill, who lives in Texas and Uncle George, who lives in Oklahoma.

Here's some of the many Bellman grandkids and great grandkids. There are too many others to name them all!

I think we need a giant Bellman reunion... somewhere warm, somewhere fun and somewhere soon. It has been a LONG time since we've all been together, but I am at least glad I got to spend this weekend with some of them. :)

Feeling like a kid again. . .

I saw the Kew Kids and Backstreet Boys perform on Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve and I got chills. I immediately felt like a kid again as I sang along to every word. Seriously, it was amazing... though my husband may not agree!! HAHA!

I kind of feel like the NKOTBSB summer tour is the perfect concert for my generation. I remember loving New Kids when I was a kid. My sister absolutely loved them and had posters of them hanging in her closet. (b/c mom wouldn't let us hang posters on our walls) So, since I looked up to my sister, I too listened to all the New Kids music and knew all the words to every song and still do! :) I even had a Jon Knight doll. Every New Kids song makes me feel kind of like a kid again!

Then, in high school came the Backstreet Boys! I loved them, maybe even more than New Kids. Two of them were from KY that made them even better. I remember videotaping the music video for the song "Everybody" and then trying to learn the dance with my friends. Backstreet Boys take me back to high school.

So, I need to go to this concert this summer. I've looked up the tour dates and it looks like the closest place is either Nashville or Chicago... who is with me? Anyone want to road trip with me? I need to go.
